The Verona Rescue Squad is a group of dedicated volunteers who have been providing emergency first aid and transportation to the community since 1927.  Commitment and concern for the community are the driving force behind our fine tradition of volunteer work.

The Verona Rescue Squad responds to over 1600 calls each year.  All of these calls are answered by volunteers who give freely of their time and energy to help those in need.

The squad is made up of volunteers from all walks of life, homemakers, retirees, mechanics, carpenters, teachers, nurses, students and office workers to name a few.  These people give freely of their time and energy to assist their neighbors in time of emergency.

The members of the Verona Rescue Squad are proud of our long tradition of responding to your calls for help but now the squad is in need of YOUR help.

Volunteerism is on the decline.  This is true in many areas including the Verona Rescue Squad.  We need YOUR help to continue our services.  Membership is open to anyone age 16 or older in good physical condition.

No experience is necessary to join the squad, just a desire to help others. Potential applicants must be age 16+ and a Township of Verona resident or non-Verona resident with an EMT certification or recommendation from current VRS member. We provide all training and uniforms free of charge.  Members are trained in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and first aid techniques.  These are skills which could also prove valuable in your everyday life.

Members are required to ride a duty crew for a specific amount of time each week.  During this time members will train with their crews to learn how the equipment and squad operates.  While on duty members are required to remain in our response area but not necessarily at our building.

Joining the squad is a rewarding experience.  It is a way to learn lifesaving skills, help the community and expand your social circle by meeting new people.  If you think you may be interested in finding out more about the squad and possibly becoming a member please call us at 973-857-4760, send an e-mail with your name, phone number and best time to call or complete the application below and send it to the address on the top of the application.  Someone from the membership committee will get back to you.
